What would you leave for Jesus

Good morning, happy Saturday and blessings.

During the sermon tomorrow Sunday I will place greater emphasis on the call that Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew (‪4: 12-23‬) makes to his disciples to follow him.

I will argue that when we look at the stories of how the disciples followed, and how some others did not, we can see some challenges on how people live their lives. The people are not perfect. We all have defects.

During the sermon I will be placing greater emphasis on the call that Jesus makes to his disciples to follow him. I'll be arguing that when we look at the stories of how the disciples followed, and how a few others didn’t, we can see some challenges to how people live their lives. People aren’t perfect. We all have flaws.

Not everyone followed Jesus so happily. Luke tells a story of a rich man who asks Jesus what he has to do to get eternal life. This wealthy man was interested in following Jesus, but only if it was on His terms. Jesus can see into everyone’s heart and this man was no exception.
But I will also insist on clarifying that Jesus didn’t come into the world to gather up all the perfect people. He came for the broken people, the people with bad reputations. He came here for the broken hearted, for the poor in spirit, for those who needed healing in their souls. And He asked these damaged people to follow him. And we’re all part of that too. Jesus also asked us to follow.

Last week the question Jesus asked us was: what are you looking for? Today he tells us: Follow me. Are you ready to accept Jesus' call? I hope so because the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.

Blessings

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
