Reading: Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits. Mark 6:7.

In today’s Gospel (Mark 6:7-13) Jesus sends His disciples out to preach, teach and heal. Jesus was wise: He sent the disciples out in pairs. Jesus knew as beginning preachers, they would need support. He also realized that the disciples would be more effective if they had companions in this ministry. Thus, He sent them out in pairs.

How would life be different for us, if we lived each day as if it were our last day?

Do I truly trust Jesus and His love and care for me?

 
Reading: Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”  So Jesus went with him.

We all have demons that possess us which affect our relationship with Jesus.

 
Reading: As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him.  Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” Mark 5:18-19.

Today’s Gospel (Mark 5:1-20) is the story of the man who had an unclean spirit.  This man had been dwelling in the tombs.  His disorder was so severe that no one was able to restrain him, not even with a chain.   
 

As Christians we do better to see ourselves as the mustard seed – small, childlike, humble, and trusting.

 
Reading: Again, he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it?  It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Luke 4:30.

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
