The Red Corner of Fr. Luis

When life is difficult, painful, or confusing, Jesus is with us.

Reading: Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Luke 21:33.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

Beyond a celebration, Thanksgiving Day must be a Day of Mourning

Reading:  When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Luke 21:28.

Good morning, happy Thursday, my dear family. Today is a Day of Mourning,

In the context of today's Gospel (Luke 21: 20-28) I invite you to reflect on our moral, ethical and spiritual responsibility on the genocide and crime against humanity that was committed and continues to be committed against our " Native American, " "American Indian "or" Indigenous" sisters and brothers.

Perhaps the call today is to be aware of how we interact with the people in our lives

Reading: But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. Luke 21:14.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings my dear family.

There is a difference between giving alms and sharing what we have

Reading: Truly I tell you,” He said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” Luke 21: 3-4.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

Our only concern must be always to speak the truth in love.

Reading: When Jesus entered the temple courts, he began to drive out those who were selling. “It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer’]; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’ Luke 19: 45-46.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

The wealth that really matters – freedom, security, happiness, and peace

Reading: He replied, ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what they have will be taken away. Luke 19:26.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Today Jesus also calls out to us: “Come down from your tree and take me to your home.

Reading: When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”  So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. Luke 19:5-6.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Today Jesus will ask you (and me): “What do you want me to do for you?”

Reading: Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” Lord, I want to see,” he replied. Luke 18:40-41.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

What part of my past is preventing me from moving forward?

Reading: Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. Luke 17:33.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

In today’s Gospel (Luke 17:26-37) we are told that the coming of the Son of Man cannot be predicted. We are challenged as we live out our daily lives to focus our attention on our relationship with God rather than on the things of the earth as “those who lose their life will keep it”

Where there is justice, no matter how small, there is God’s kingdom

Reading: Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Luke 17-20-21.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
