Reading: No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. Luke 8:16.
 
Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.
 
Today’s Gospel (Luke 8:16-18) is very short; it is just a few verses. In this Gospel, Jesus is instructing his disciples that the purpose of the light is to illuminate the room in which it is placed. Thus, the lamp should be well placed so that the entire space is illuminated.
 

Jesus always understood his mission as something to be carried out with others, never on his own.

Today’s Gospel (Luke 7:36-50) begins with a Pharisee inviting Jesus to dinner. Jesus entered the Pharisee’s home and reclined at table. Then unexpectedly a woman appears behind Jesus. Luke writes: “She was a sinful woman.” The woman had heard that Jesus was in the city and when she found out that he was at the home of the Pharisee, she immediately went to the house and entered.

Reading: There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. Luke 7:2-3.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.
 
Today’s Gospel (Luke 6:12-19) begins with Jesus going up the mountain to pray. Jesus spent the whole night in prayer. It is immediately after this time of deep solitude and prayer that he called the twelve apostles. It is at this point Jesus began to preach, to teach, and to heal.
 

For Jesus, love is the supreme law.

Reading: Then Jesus said to them, “I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?” Luke 6:9.

In today’s Gospel (Luke 6:6-11) we learn that on the day of the Sabbath, Jesus went to the synagogue, and he began to teach. There was a man in the synagogue whose right hand was withered and useless. As was their custom, the Pharisees and scribes were closely observing Jesus, hoping that he would heal on the Sabbath.

Live in the present seems to be the message of Jesus

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
