What do I fear at the moment?

Reading: Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; Luke 5:10b

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.

In today’s Gospel (Luke 5:1-11), Jesus called his first disciples.  Jesus was walking by the lake of Gennesaret.  He was standing on the shore when he saw two boats that were close to the shore.  The fisherman had just finished their fishing for the day.  They had gotten out of their boats, and they were washing their nets.

Our “demons” often control us much more than we would like!

Reading: In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, “Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” Luke 4: 33-34.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Some of our evils can be dealt with only through prayer in the power of the risen Lord.

Reading: “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without. Luke 4:35.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Can I faithfully entrust myself to the unknown with the certainty of God’s goodness?

Reading: Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour. Matthew 25:13.

Good morning, happy, Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

In the Gospel (Matthew 25:1-13) reading today, Jesus tells his disciples the parable of the ten virgins.  This is a parable that is familiar to most of us.  The ten virgins took their lamps and went out to wait for the coming of the bridegroom.  Jesus tells us that five of these virgins were foolish and the other five virgins were wise.

Today, tune the ear of your heart to the presence of Jesus with you

Reading: Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. Matthew 24:42.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.

I pray for those who abuse their power to stop and for their victims to find ways to resist.

Reading: Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. Matthew 23:27.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Today in the Gospel (Matthew 23:27-32), Jesus continues his diatribe about the Pharisees. He bluntly calls them hypocrites. He likens them to “whitewashed tombs” which look beautiful but deep within the tombs are nothing but bones and filth.

I wonder, how often do we make judgments on people or situations, convinced that we are correct?

Reading: Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.“Come and see,” said Philip. John 1:45-46.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

How easy it is to use religion and religious discourse to dominate and manipulate others!

Reading: Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. Matthew 23:13.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

Loving my neighbor as myself requires a radical love

Reding: And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:39.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

Happiness here on earth is the only richness that the Gospel promotes.

Reading: Again, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Matthew 19:24.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
