What do I fear at the moment?

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.
 
In today’s Gospel (Luke 5:1-11), Jesus called his first disciples.  Jesus was walking by the lake of Gennesaret.  He was standing on the shore when he saw two boats that were close to the shore.  The fisherman had just finished their fishing for the day.  They had gotten out of their boats, and they were washing their nets.
 

Our “demons” often control us much more than we would like!

Reading: In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, “Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” Luke 4: 33-34.

In the Gospel (Matthew 25:1-13) reading today, Jesus tells his disciples the parable of the ten virgins.  This is a parable that is familiar to most of us.  The ten virgins took their lamps and went out to wait for the coming of the bridegroom.  Jesus tells us that five of these virgins were foolish and the other five virgins were wise.
 

Today, tune the ear of your heart to the presence of Jesus with you

Reading: Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. Matthew 23:27.

Today in the Gospel (Matthew 23:27-32), Jesus continues his diatribe about the Pharisees. He bluntly calls them hypocrites. He likens them to “whitewashed tombs” which look beautiful but deep within the tombs are nothing but bones and filth.

I wonder, how often do we make judgments on people or situations, convinced that we are correct?

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
