Prayer is a time of relaxing into the mystery of God’s love

Reading: God knows what you need before you ask him (Matthew 6:7b.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings.

Today’s gospel (Matthew 6:7-15) reading begins with Jesus telling his disciples that they should not babble their prayers like the pagans do. The pagans may think that more words are better and they may hope that many words will bring them a favorable response from their gods.

Jesus instructs us not to be show-offs

Reading: Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. Matthew 6:1.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings.

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 6:1-6,16-18) Jesus instructs us not to be show-offs.  This passage begins with Jesus instructing His disciples: “When you give alms, do it quietly.  If you wish to pray, go into your room, and close the door.  Your Father who sees in secret may reward you.”

No debemos ser selectiv@s sobre a quién amamos

Lectura: Has oído que se dijo: "Ama a tu prójimo y odia a tu enemigo". Pero yo te digo, ama a tus enemigos y ora por los que te persiguen. Mateo 5: 43-44.

Buenos días, feliz martes y muchas bendiciones.

We are not to be selective about whom we love

Reading: You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. Matthew 5:43-44.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

Resisting revenge

Reading: You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. Matthew 5:38-39.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings.

Today I reflect on the burdens I am carrying. I bring them to Jesus

Reading: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28.

Good morning, happy Friday.

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 11:25-30) we learn that the people who were listening to Jesus’ words seem weary. Jesus’ words sound like a stream of living water. These people are not powerful, they are not educated, however they are able to understand Jesus’ message. I pause and think about the fact that I have been entrusted with this message. I give thanks for that.

To forgive and be reconciled with others

Reading: Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you,  leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings.

We must spice up and light up this world

Reading: “You are the salt of the earth… “You are the light of the world.  Matthew 5:13-14.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 5:13-18) Jesus doesn’t say, “You will be the salt of the earth” or “You have within you the potential to become the salt of the earth.” He says, “You ARE the salt of the earth”—indicating that, by God’s grace, the miracle of our transformation has already begun.

The Beatitudes show me what is in the heart of Jesus

Reading: Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them. Matthew 5:1-2.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings.

Who is Jesus for me?

Reading: While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked, “Why do the teachers of the law say that the Messiah is the son of David? Mark 12:35.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
