The Red Corner of Fr. Luis

I am struggling in my life what is my priority?

Reading: The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-32.

Good morning happy Thursday, and many blessings.

God is not a God of dead people, but of living people

Reading: Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!” Mark 12:26-27.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings.

Am I ever hypocritical?

Reading: Should we pay, or shouldn’t we?” But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” Mark 12:15.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

In this Gospel (Mark 12:13-17) once again Jesus has the better of the Pharisees and Herodians: not because he’s superhumanly smart, but because he’s so good at being a human.

Jesus sees through his opponents’ tricks and traps, and he has the personal calm and poise to respond with integrity.

To pray is to ask for forgiveness and also to forgive others

Reading: And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? Mark 11:17.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings.

The Gospel of today (Mark 11:11-26) speaks of several things – the Temple as a place of worship and prayer, not of business, the need for faith, prayer, forgiveness. And we must bear fruit. Let us also drive out in our life what does not belong there so that we can serve God better.

I may sometimes prefer to keep the less presentable parts of my life out of Jesus' sight

Reading: Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:48.

Good morning, happy Thursday and many blessings.

Today’s Gospel (Mark 10:46-52) remind us that sometimes in life, we feel stuck, incapable of making a decision, confused. Generally, it’s because we feel as though we don’t see ourselves clearly; we don’t see the situation clearly or which way to go to get out of it.

Our relationship with Jesus can be frightening

Reading: Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.” Mark 10:28.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

Do you dare to leave everything to follow Jesus?

Reading: Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth. Mark 10: 21-22.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings.

In love there may be differences but there is no division

Reading: My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. John 17:20-21a.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings.

It’s important to note in this Gospel (John 17:20-26) that Jesus’ longest and most fervent prayer was for the unity of the church: “… that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us.” (John 17:21)

Jesus longs to share his peace, his joy and his truth with us today

Reading: I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. John 17:15.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings.

Nothing can separate us from Jesus’ love and mercy

Reading: I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. John 17:11.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
