My unbelief limits Jesus

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings.

The Gospel today (Mark 6:1-6) speaks of the visit of Jesus to Nazareth and describes the obstinacy of the people of Nazareth who do not want to accept Him. Tomorrow the Gospel describes the openness of Jesus toward the people of Galilee, shown through the sending out of His disciples on mission.

My eyes have seen salvation

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

Have you ever heard of the old saying, “Good things come to those who wait”? If so, the story of Simeon, Anna and the baby Jesus in the temple in Luke 2:22-40 is a good example. The coming of Christ involved all manner of waiting on God. A young maiden, a dying man and an old widow all model hearts yielded to God.

What's your story?

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings.

What seeds are we planting today?

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings.

It is always beautiful to see Jesus, who sought in life and in events new elements and images which could help people to see and experience the presence of the Kingdom. In today’s Gospel, (Mark 4:26-34) once again, He narrates two brief stories which take place every day in the life of all of us: the story of “the seed that grows by itself” and the story of “the small mustard seed which grows into the biggest shrub”.

The light must be seen and it must glow in the dark

Good morning, happy Thursday and many blessings.

Commitment is the cornerstone of discipleship

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

Social responsibility of the church to the world

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings.

Today’s Gospel (Mark 16:15-18) forms part of the appendix of the Gospel of Mark which presents a list of some apparitions of Jesus: to Magdalene (Mark 16:9-11), to the two disciples who were walking out in the country (Mark 16:12-13) and to the twelve apostles (Mark 16:14-18). This last apparition, together with the description of the Ascension into Heaven (Mark 16:19-20), forms the Gospel for today.

Ordinary people with big responsibilities

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings.

The Gospel today (Mark 3:13-19) describes the acceptance and mission of the twelve apostles. Jesus begins with two disciples to whom He adds two others. Gradually, the number increased. Luke tells us that He called the 72 disciples so as to go on mission with Him (Luke 10:1).

The compassion of Jesus moves the people

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings.

In our Gospel reading today, Mark 3:7-12, we get an insight into what Jesus’ ministry was like, and the impact it had.  How the crowds flocked to Jesus from all the regions surrounding Galilee to hear Jesus preach, to bring the sick to be healed and the demon possessed to be delivered.

So many people flocked to Jesus that he ordered his disciples to get a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him, such was the hunger and desire people had to be near Jesus.

Our love for God is expressed precisely in how we treat others

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
