Trust God

Good morning, happy Tuesday and blessings.

Today I invite you to reflect on the Gospel of Luke looking at chapter 13, verses 31-35.  In this passage we will take note of two types of opposition against Jesus and learn why He was not concerned about either one.  Our prayer is that Christ’s followers would follow what Christ modeled for us and apply it to our lives.

When times are tough and things aren’t going our way, that’s when we find it the most difficult to trust God. We doubt that God is going to come through for us, we lack faith in His promises, and we worry ourselves with endless thoughts about our future. The problem is that this is the exact opposite of how God wants us to react to the difficult circumstances in our lives.

Jesus, on His way to the cross in Jerusalem, is approached by some Pharisees who say to Him, “get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you” (31).  Jesus, in this verse, is made aware of secular opposition. If something is secular, then it is non-religious.  In this case it was from a governmental authority.

It is interesting to note that Jesus quickly turns His attention away from Herod.  Jesus indicates that the main opposition against Him comes not from Galilee but Jerusalem.  Jerusalem in this passage represents the religious authorities who “were filled with fury and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus” (Luke 6:11).

What can we learn? Confident in time of trouble: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. Again, Jesus is some way is remaining us to be confident. Trust and pray and first, be still during all the CHAOS. And second, KNOW THAT HE IS GOD. And he is a powerful and amazing God, that became our refuge and strength.
