Week of Ordinary; Proper Thirteen
August 07, 2017 – August 11, 2017
The Old Testament Reading continues with Second book of Samuel. We see David in all his humanity – from super human ability to have loving covenant with God – to scorning the Lord by sending Uriah the Hittite to his certain death in order to take Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba as his own wife – and finally to understanding of his grave sin and sincere repentance.
Acts takes us this week through the works that Paul has done.
The Gospel readings from Mark continues Jesus’ preaching, healing and his interactions with his disciples. On Thursday we repeat this past Sunday’s story of Transfiguration – although from Mark’s perspective and not Luke’s.
This week we will use Text 02.
