Week of Ordinary; Proper Fourteen
August 14, 2017 – August 18, 2017
The Old Testament readings this week takes us to the rise of Absalom – just as Nathan had predicted. King David is driven from Jerusalem in a sudden coup-d’état by none other than his favorite son! Interestingly enough there is reference to David and his men, fleeing to the Mount of Olives. This is definitely the low point of his career, but through his humility and faith, God is with him!
The Gospel readings from Mark continues Jesus’ preaching, healing and his interactions with his disciples. More Parables and healings. More trap questions from the religious leaders, and more lessons for the disciples.
This week we will use Text 01.
