The Red Corner of Fr. Luis

On this Christmas Eve may we open our minds, eyes and hearts and look deeply for God’s action in our lives and in the lives of the people we love!

Reading: …because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” Luke 1:78-79.

Good morning, happy Friday, Merry Christmas and many blessings my dear family.

Mary was carrying God within her and they brought joy to Elizabeth and John within her.

Reading: And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. Luke 1:46-48.

Every time we meet another person, we bring God to each other; let us also bring joy

Reading:  When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:41,

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

In today’s Gospel (Luke 1:39-45) Mary sets out on a journey.  She travels to the hill country to the town of Judah.  She was anxious to see her cousin Elizabeth.  Mary had strange and yet wondrous news for Elizabeth.

At times, Jesus (and life) presents us with difficult or painful situations that stir up a storm of emotion in us.

At times, Jesus (and life) presents us with difficult or painful situations that stir up a storm of emotion in us.

Reading:  But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. Luke 1: 30-31.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

Today’s Gospel (Luke 1:26-38) is one that is a very familiar to us. It is the story of the angel’s appearance to Mary and revelation to her that she would conceive and bear a Son.

But one is not great because of the number of things amassed but instead by the things he or she has given away.

Reading:  I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” Luke 7:28.

Good morning, happy Thursday and many blessing my dear family.

Life involves searching if we want to find something or someone.

Reading: he sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” Luke 7:19

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Do we spend a lot of time praying in church but not doing much loving outside of it?

Reading: Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you; the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. Matthew 21:31.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Jesus used his divine authority, not to dominate, but to serve

Reading: Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. “By what authority are you doing these things?” they asked. “And who gave you this authority?” Matthew 21:23.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

The setting for today’s Gospel (Matthew 21:23-27) is the temple. When Jesus entered the temple, the elders and chief priests approached Him. They immediately began questioning Him. They asked Him who it was that gave Him authority to heal and preach?

It is so very easy to criticize another person

Reading: For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” Matthew 11:18-19.

Good morning happy Friday and many blessings my dear family.

The dignity conferred on us by baptism is a challenge to live up to.

Reading: Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Matthew 11:11.

Good morning happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
