Following Jesus can bring us into confrontation with others

Reading: Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. Luke 12:51.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.

Today’s Gospel (Luke 12:49-53) is a bit sobering. In his opening words, Jesus tells the disciples: “I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!”  He continues talking about the baptism with which he would be baptized and the anguish he would experience in this process.

Jesus comes to us in many ways every day

Reading: You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” Luke 12:40.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings my dear family.

When and how Jesus has been present to us

Reading: It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. Luke 12:38.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Those whom Jesus calls to follow him are then always sent on mission.

Reading: After this the Lord appointed seventy-two] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Luke 10:1-2.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

Do we truly trust Jesus?

Reading: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 11:25-30) Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him. He promises us that if we come to Him, He will give us rest, and the rest He gives will renew and restore us.

The law is developed to protect and help people, not to enslave them.

Reading: Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the key to knowledge. You yourselves have not entered, and you have hindered those who were entering.” Luke 11:52.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.

The sad fact of spiritual power, being abused and diverted to give status and prestige to religious leaders

Reading: Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone. Luke 11:42.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Putting the word of God into practice is a daily choice and a daily decision

Reading: He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Luke 11:28.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Jonah is the sign of God’s care for all

Reading: As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. Luke 11:29.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

The reality is that we typically have more than one “Beelzebub” in our lives.

Reading: But some of them said, “By Beelzebul, the prince of demons, he is driving out demons.” Luke 11:15.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
