Good morning, happy Thursday,  and many blessings.

 

With todays’ Gospel (Luke 11: 25-30) we celebrate the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In the Gospel we hear the invitation of Jesus: "Learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart." The Gospel shows the tenderness with which Jesus welcomes the little ones. He wanted the poor to find peace and rest in him.

Good morning, happy Wednesday, and many blessing. 

 

In today’s Gospel (Luke 11:42-46) the conflicting relationship between Jesus and the religious authority of the time continues. Today in the church we have the same conflict. In a certain diocese a priest convoked the poor to participate actively. They accepted the request and numerous began to participate. A great conflict arose. The rich said that they had been excluded and some people began to say, “the priest is doing politics and forgets the Gospel.”

In today’s Gospel (Luke 11:37-41) there is the continuation of the tense relationship between Jesus and the religious authority of his time. But in spite of the tension there was a certain familiarity between Jesus and the Pharisees. Invited to eat at their house, Jesus accepts the invitation. He does not lose his freedom before them, and neither do the Pharisees before him.

 

God transforms us.

The Gospel today (Luke 11:5-13) continues to speak about the theme of prayer, which began with the teaching of the Our Father (Luke 11: 1-4). Today, Jesus teaches that we should pray with faith and insistence without giving up. For this He uses a provocative parable.

The Gospel (Matthew 7:7-11) for today challenges beliefs that as older we get into Christianity now God will do everything before even, we have been asked. Instead of increasing in prayer life, we decrease slowly.

 

What was the necessity for Jesus to Pray, have you ever thought about it? In four gospels there are more than 29 verses referring to Jesus' praying.

 

The harvest is great, but the workers few

The Gospel for today’s (Luke 10:1-12) begins with somewhat dense expressions. The first one, “After these things, it sends us back to the prayer of Jesus and to his firm decision to go to Jerusalem. The second one concerns the verb “appointed”: He appointed seventy-two others and sent them out...” (10, 1). Where it is said concretely that He sent them ahead of him, it is the same resolute Jesus who is journeying to Jerusalem.

 

We have to remember that we have a call to follow Jesus

Today’s Gospel Luke 9:57-62) is about three people say they will follow Jesus.

This passage is all about following. The key word is a familiar one, "follow, accompany, follow as disciple." One question I'd like you to ponder: Can a person be a Christian without being a follower of Jesus? Look at these encounters Jesus had with these three disciples. They will help us to ready our hearts for the ministries Jesus has for us.

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
