Ahora tenemos que darle forma a lo que algun@s han comenzado a llamar; La Iglesia en Casa. Aunque yo me sigo preguntando; ¿qué hacen quienes no tienen un hogar? Por esto a la misma vez, estoy declarando desde hoy en nuestra Iglesia Santa Cruz una jornada de cuaresma de oración, ayuno y leer la Biblia en el Tiempo del Coronavirus.

| Esa es la razón por la que rechazo enérgicamente enfoques estúpidos como Hagamos a América Grande de Nuevo (Make American Great Again) o Dios Bendiga a América (God Bless America). Esta semana (Marcos 9: 38-50) se están quejando de este otro tipo, este obstáculo para su estatus, poder y reconocimiento. | That is the reason why I strongly reject stupid approaches like Make American Great Again or God Bless America. Me pregunto si esto podría no ser una variación del argumento de la semana pasada. Recuerdas cómo terminó todo este asunto, ¿verdad? Terminó con Jesús tomando a un niño en sus brazos y diciendo: "El que recibe a un niño como este en mi nombre, me recibe a mí, y el que me recibe a mí, no me recibe a mí, sino al que me envió". También puedo recordar que dije que el niño es un símbolo de vulnerabilidad, impotencia y dependencia de otras personas. Esto se debe a que los Evangelios de Jesús promueven los valores de la colectividad y la cooperación y rechazan los valores del capitalismo: el individualismo y la competencia. Juan, sin embargo, quiere entablar la conversación sobre este otro personaje en la narrativa, o sea, este obstáculo. "Maestro, vimos a alguien echando demonios en tu nombre y tratamos de detenerlo, porque no nos estaba siguiendo". ¿No es eso lo que a menudo hacemos o queremos hacer con nuestros obstáculos? Dibujamos líneas en la arena, rodeamos los vagones, nos dividimos entre nosotr@s y ell@s, y tratamos de detenerl@s. Veo que eso está sucediendo en el mundo de hoy. Lo leí en las noticias. Y lo he hecho. Yo he sido Juan, ¿no es así? Y recuerda, la espiritualidad es un modo de estar presente en el mundo, no para contemplarlo, sino más bien contemplarlo y cambiarlo. No basta con preocuparnos por las personas pobres, hay que impedir la pobreza. Por esto nuestra espiritualidad tiene que ser mundana. La espiritualidad es un llamado a vivir plenamente en el mundo. La espiritualidad no es huir del mundo, por el contrario, es meternos en el mundo tal y como Jesús lo hizo. En aquel tiempo, Jesús iba caminando de ciudad en ciudad y de pueblo en pueblo, predicando el Evangelio del reino de Dios (Lucas 8:1). Ven a expresar tu espiritualidad. Padre Luis |
I wonder if this might not be a variation on last week’s argument. You remember how that ended, right? It ended with Jesus taking a child into his arms and saying, “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.” You may also remember that I said that the child is a symbol of vulnerability, powerlessness, and dependency on another. This is because Jesus’ Gospels promote the values of collectivity and cooperation and rejects the values of capitalism: individualism and competition. Spirituality is not running away from the world, on the contrary, it is getting into the world as Jesus did. | Se ha dicho que Jesús vino proclamando un reino al revés. Es una forma popular de decir que gran parte de lo que Jesús dijo y enseñó cambia nuestra forma de pensar. Dijo cosas como, si quieres vivir, debes morir; y si quieres salvar tu vida, debes perderla. Nuestra forma natural de pensar es odiar a nuestr@s enemig@s y buscar oportunidades de venganza, pero Jesús dijo: Ama a tus enemig@s y ora por quienes te persiguen. Al llegar a Marcos 9, encontramos a Jesús expresando otra forma de pensar paradójica. Dice que el camino a la grandeza es el camino al servicio. Y si queremos ser grandes, debemos ser los mejores servidores. Y, por supuesto, esto no es simplemente algo que Jesús dice, así es como Él vivió. La vida y la muerte de Jesús son las últimas demostraciones de la grandeza de la humildad. Ese es el ejemplo de Anahí, Simón, Andrew, y Ronnie, que bello tenerles en nuestra iglesia. | It has been said that Jesus came proclaiming an upside-down kingdom. It is a popular way of saying that much of what Jesus said and taught changes the way we think. He said things like, if you want to live, you must die; And if you want to save your life, you must lose it. Our natural way of thinking is to hate our enemies and seek opportunities for revenge, but Jesus said: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. As we come to Mark 9, we find Jesus expressing another paradoxical way of thinking. He says that the way to greatness is the way to service. And if we want to be great, we must be the best servers. And, of course, this is not simply something that Jesus says, this is how He lived. The life and death of Jesus are the last demonstrations of the greatness of humility. That is the example of Anahí, Simón, Andrew, and Ronnie, how beautiful to have them in our church. | ||
