I imagine Jesus sitting with me where I am at this moment, and I hear him saying to me “Do not let your heart be troubled”.

 
Reading: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. John 14:1.
 
Good morning, Happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.
 
In today’s Gospel (John 14:1-6) Jesus tells his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Take a moment and check the condition of your heart. Is your heart troubled in any way? If so, about what are you concerned or worried? Have you taken your concern to Jesus? What are you holding in your mind and heart?
 
Jesus tells us to have faith in God and also to have faith in Him. Do we truly have faith in God, Jesus, and the Spirit? If so, how deep and real is our faith? Do we truly believe that Jesus is with us every moment of our day? Is our faith a “daily” faith? Or do we have a “Sunday” faith? Do we have a personal relationship with Jesus or do we turn to Jesus only when we are struggling and have a need?
 
Jesus longs for us to come to Him, to turn to Him. He longs to have a deeply personal relationship with us. Jesus loves us and desires to be in communion with us. Perhaps we need to ask ourselves: how great is my desire to be in communion with Jesus? Jesus longs to strengthen us and grace us but we have to have open minds and receptive hearts to Him and His presence.

Also, Jesus is always showing his loving concern for us by saying “Do not let your hearts be troubled”. Jesus promises that he is gone before us to prepare a place, helping us understand that we are more than our human experience and that all our needs can be found in him. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. “

Acknowledging our humanness, we are assured that we are more than our life on earth, that we are not alone, or abandoned by God. We come as we are to God handing over all our troubles. 

I imagine Jesus sitting with me where I am at this moment, and I hear him saying to me “Do not let your heart be troubled”. There may be things in my life that are troubling me now: can I allow these consoling words of Jesus to touch my heart like balm? I look at Jesus as he says these words to me. What expression do I see on his face as he looks at me, as he looks into my heart? I am being invited to trust the God who loves me and who is waiting for me. I talk to Jesus about my troubles and anxieties. I listen to him as he replies to me.

Today may we take any troubles, concerns or fears that we have to Jesus. Jesus will walk with us, strengthen us, heal us and gladden our hearts. Jesus truly is our “Way, Truth and Life.” The question for us is: will we choose to walk daily with Him? He is waiting for us! In what ways do I know that Jesus ‘is the way’? What helps me to know or find that way in my life? Jesus promises that he has gone before us to prepare a place for us. Can I believe that? Can I trust him enough to believe that?
