The forgiveness

I've been meditating on forgiveness for a few weeks and today I decided to share some thoughts with you. The Epistle of Colossians (3:13) tells us: Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as God forgave you. In other words, it is a mandate; we must forgive. Forgiveness is a choice we make. It is a decision of our will, motivated by obedience to God and his command to forgive.

Forgiveness is a dominant theme throughout the Bible. But it's not uncommon for Christians to have many questions about forgiveness. The act of forgiving does not come easy for most of us. Our natural instinct is to recoil in self-protection when we've been injured. We don't naturally overflow with mercy, grace, and understanding when we've been wronged. We look for excuses that justify our revenge and how to feed our resentment and hate to those who have offended us.I give thanks that God does not work that way because if he were to forgive as I forgive, then I am in serious trouble.

Is it okay to feel anger and want justice for the person we need to forgive? This question presents another reason to pray for the person we need to forgive. We can pray and ask God to deal with the injustices. We can trust God to judge that person's life, and then we ought to leave that prayer at the altar. We no longer have to carry the anger. Although it is normal for us to feel anger toward sin and injustice, it is not our job to judge the other person in their sin. This is discipleship.

Today I have put these two questions in my life as a Christian person and I would like to invite you to join me. Why not put away our pride and ask their forgiveness? Why do we have to be right all the time and make others wrong? Remember; Forgive as God forgave you.

Blessings
