Where there is life, there is always hope of redemption and of the triumph of good over evil

Reading: Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear. Matthew 13:43.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Today give thanks for the “mustard seed” and the “bread” that you are.

Reading: He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field… He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.” Matthew 13:31, 33.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

Jesus is telling us that the very core of our existence is to be connected with him

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

I thank God for all the women who helped me know Jesus better

How deep is my belief and trust in Jesus?

Reading: Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” Matthew 12:38.

Good morning, happy Monday, and many blessings my dear family.

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 12:38-42) the Pharisees and scribes come to Jesus and say:  “We want to see a sign from you!” However, Jesus refuses to give them a sign.  He tells them that it is “an evil and unfaithful generation” that needs a “sign” in order to believe.  He then says: “No sign except the sign of Jonah will be given!”

Do we see the many wonders Jesus is working in our world and our lives?

Reading: Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. Matthew 11:20.

Good morning, happy Tuesday, and many blessings my dear family.

Discipleship is about personal sacrifice

Reading: I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore, be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. Matthew 10: 16.

Good morning, happy Friday, and many blessings my dear family.

In our gospel readings for the past couple of days, Jesus is getting his apostles ready for their first mission without him. He gave them authority over evil spirits and to drive out disease. He also provided marching orders on how they were to proceed from town to town.

We need to become radical disciples

Reading: As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near. Matthew 10:7.

Good morning, happy Thursday, and many blessings my dear family.

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 10:7-15), Jesus continues his instruction to his disciples.  He tells them that they should proclaim this message: “The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  Jesus empowers the disciples to cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, and drive out demons.

For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
