What does God want from me?

Good morning, happy Wednesday and blessings.

The reflection for today is taken from the book of the prophet Micah, where you can appreciate a complaint from God with his people because they do not accept his proposal for life: «He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to practice solidarity love and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8).

What does God want from me? Very simple, to act with rectitude, honesty and integrity. And we can appreciate this in two conditions.

First: practice law. In his daily life, human being has the opportunity to relate and be in harmony with God. The mispat ("right") is understood as the act of favoring what corresponds to each person in their individuality. It is related to the fundamental and necessary things so that life is possible: water, food, drink, clothing, roof, health, work, etc. (Micah 3:1; 8:9.; 7). The message is clear, what a person have in abundant must share with those who lacks the minimum to live with dignity.

The second condition is to practice solidarity love. This verb introducing the phrase immediately recalls Deuteronomy 6: 5: "You shall love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength," and also remember Leviticus 19:18: "Love your neighbor as yourself". Because love, in its biblical sense, has this triple dimension: God-I-The other person. It is a love that implies an intimate and, at the same time, interpersonal and collective relationship. It is not understood as a simple ethical expression, but as a disposition to serve the other person, where God is, according to His Word (Exodus 13:21).

I am clear that sometimes it is difficult to love the neighbor who offends us, so we must start from the love of God that is good, to be able to love the other person and thus genuinely love God. Let's be clear that this is not if we want, this is a commandment. When someone you care about hurts you, you can hold on to anger, resentment and thoughts of revenge — or embrace forgiveness and move forward. Like love to God, to love our neighbor is not only about feeling, but also action. That is why we must love him or her the same way that we love each other. Are you ready today to demonstrate with action these three dimensions of love?

Blessings

Ministry at the time of Coronavirus (Covid 19): Prevent, cure and accompany

Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
