The arrepentance

Good morning, happy Friday and blessings.

During Lent the theme of repentance is very common. In James 4: 8 the Bible tells us the following: Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
 
I remind you that true repentance consists of a change of opinion regarding the nature of sin, and this change of opinion followed by a corresponding change of feelings towards sin. Feeling is the result of thought. And when this change of opinion is such that it produces a corresponding change of feeling, if the opinion is correct and the feeling corresponds, this is true repentance. It must be a correct opinion. The opinion now adopted must be an opinion similar to that which God has regarding sin. The contrition according to God, as he requires, must come from the way of seeing that God has of sin.

A person who has truly repented is willing to be known to have repented, and is willing to be known to have done something wrong. Whoever has a false repentance resorts to excuses and lies to cover up their sins and is ashamed of their repentance. This is why we must understand that repentance is not crying, repentance is changing my way of thinking, feeling and acting. This change cannot be partial, or temporary, much less forced. Genuine repentance is a permanent change of character and behavior. I invite you today to continue working on all this in our lives.
