Now we have to shape what some have started calling; The Church at Home. Although I keep asking myself; What do those who do not have a home do? For this reason, at the same time, I am declaring today in our Holyrood Church a Lenten day of prayer, fasting and reading the Bible in the Time of the Coronavirus.
First Sunday of Advent
First Sunday of Advent
Today is Sunday and in our church, we are celebrating Mass and Eucharist in English, ASL, and Spanish.
Today also marks the beginning of the Advent season, a time of preparation, a time to go to the coming Messiah, a time of great expectation. On this first Sunday of Advent, we light the first candle, traditionally called the Candle of Hope, to remember that we hope to see the coming of Christ in our lives.
During the sermon it is argued that being a Christian has to do with the action of love; not only a reflection on the past, but also an awakening to the present and the future. Therefore, the call that is made to us is to wake up from our dream.
This is because apathy and lethargy are problems that often afflict the people of God. Hence, that Paul identified the need to exhort the members of the church in Rome to wake up and I will be asking the same of the Holyrood Church. The call is for us to wake up and dress.
Blessings
